Excited to see Tiger Woods return from his trip behind those bushes over there, fans cheered on the world’s greatest golfer in Friday’s second round of the Masters.

Woods, playing in his first tournament since last November, hit his first tee shot into the deep rough and disappeared as he went to find his ball. 20 minutes later, Woods resurfaced and was showered with unending praise by oblivious fans.

“He was gone for quite a while,” said one long-time Woods fan. “I didn’t even think his shot went that far into the rough, but he stayed in there until he found it.  How can you not cheer for this guy?”

Woods would go on to hit 26 total shots into the deep rough through 18 holes, but still managed to shoot a 70 on Day 2 of the Masters. Despite his struggles to keep the ball on the course, Woods was cheered on by fans each time he returned from the tall grass, often with his shirt untucked and a wide grin on his face.

“I’m pretty sure he was f-kin’ someone back there,” said another Woods fan. “In fact, I think it was my wife. But, what’s done is done. I’m willing to forgive him as long as he can golf his ass off. That’s all that matters.”
