The International Olympic Committe (IOC) members confessed that alcohol and extreme boredom on the plane ride to Vancouver led to the creation of at least six Winter Olympic events.

“There’s a reason you’ve never heard of some of these events and it’s because we made it up a couple days ago,” said IOC President Jacques Rogge. “One guy says ‘You know what the Winter Olympics is missing? Guns.’ Next thing you know, boom! Biathlon.

“Another guy says we should mix bowling and annoying housework. We bang out the details for another three or four minutes and decide to call it ‘Curling’. We didn’t think anyone would take any of it seriously, but they ate it up.”

Roggue recalls that it was around the 16th round of beers that the IOC members came up with their final event.

“This French guy was completely hammered and said we should take the existing Luge event, but just throw in another guy on top and call it doubles,” Roggue said. “We were pretty impressed that someone could come up with a sport that gay  — not that there’s anything wrong with that — so we added it to the list, and everyone pretty much passed out after that.”
